Area 2 Sunday School Competitions –
Preparations Going On

Dallas December 8 2005:
A meeting of Area Competitions Committee comprising of two
representatives each and headmasters from six churches was held
at St. Thomas Church, Dallas to chalk out event schedule and
other details. Traditionally Area 2 of Southern Region (Dallas,
Oklahoma, Lufkin and Lubbock churches) conducts the competitions
in the month of March each year and best of two selected from
each church will compete in seven groups and 50 items.
Fr. Rege Mathew, Vicar St. Thomas Church, led the beginning and
concluding prayers. Abraham Thomas, Area Inspector and
Headmaster, St. George Church, Irving welcomed and gave
introduction.
Headmasters Sam Varghese
(St. Mary’s, Farmer’s Branch), Mathai Abraham (substitute
Headmaster, St. Thomas Church, Dallas), Thomas Abraham (St.
Mary’s Church, Carrollton), Alex Alexander (Headmaster, St.
Gregorios Church, Garland and Regional Coordinator) and Abraham
Thomas actively participated in the deliberations.
It was decided to have judges from area churches (2 each from
each church) to judge the competitions which will be held in two
venues – groups 1 through 4 at M. G. M. Auditorium and groups 5
through 7 at St. Gregorios Church from 9.30 a.m. on March 18,
2006. Competitions will be held in Oral Bible Verses for Groups
2 & 3, Elocution for Groups 2 through 7, solo and group songs in
English and Malayalam for groups 1 through 7. Solo songs will be
devotional and group songs will be from Holy Services.
