National Relief Society Of MOC To Lead The Tsunami Rehabilitation Project

Kottayam Jan 7 2005: The National Relief Society of Malankara Orthodox Church is endorsed to do the needful in relief and Rehabilitation of the Tsunami victims all over India. The endorsement came from the working committee of the Malankara Orthodox Church met at Devalokam Aramana.

"The Church will take initiative in Tsunami affected areas like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andrapradesh and Andamans" Said Geevarghese Mar Osthathios. His Grace presented a detailed report on this. The working committee accepted the report and decided to release 3 crore initially for the rehabilitation work directly by the Church through the society.

 

 

The working committee endorsed the following Metropolitans to coordinate the relief work in area vice.

Mathews Mar Epiphanioa (Thiruvananthapuram - Kollam Districts), Paulose Mar Pachomios (Allapuzha Dist), Zachariah Mar Anthonios (Kochi), Geevarghese Mar Coorilose and Dr.Yakob Mar Ireanios (Outside Kerala). Fr.Dr.O.Thomas (Clergy Trustee), P.C.Abraham Padinjarekkara (Lay Trstee) and Dr.Alexander Karakkal (Sabha Secretary) will also be in the Society from the Church headquarters for the rehabilitation work.

The working committee also have decided to observe March 13, 2005 as the Catholicate day
