Parumala Prepares For The Consecration Of 4 New Bishops

Parumala March 3 2005: Parumala, the island of pilgrimage of Malankara on the banks of Pampa river prepares for the consecration of four Episcopos for Malankara Orthodox Church. His Holiness the Catholicos Baselius Marthoma II will consecrate Augen Ramban, Dr .K J Gabriel Ramban, Dr. Yoohanon Ramban, and Dr. Sacharia Ramban on Saturday 5 March 2005.

On this divine and solemn occasion the Catholicos Elect HB Thomas Mar Thimothios and all the Metropolitans of Malankara Orthodox Church will be present. Thus Malankara Orthodox church will have 25 Metropolitans including His Holiness the Catholicos.

 

 

The consecration and appointment of four Metropolitans for Malankara Orthodox Church is another milestone in the history of Malankara Orthodox Church", said Sabha Secretary Dr. Alexander Karackal to Indian Orthodox Herald.

"Thus Malankara Sabha will have 25 metropolitans including Bava Thirumeni. As these new Bishops enter into their new horizons of ministry, the Holy Church entrusts in them the responsibility to uphold and sanctity, and to extend the vision and the mission of the church beyond the boundaries" he added.

The new Bishops will be felicitated at Parumala in a public meeting soon after the consecration. Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Philipose Mar Chrisostem Head of the Marthoma Church and Archbishop Joseph Mar Powathil of the Catholic Church are among them to felicitate the new bishops.
