ATTAPADI, Kerala — A two-day medical camp was successfully organised at the St Thomas Ashram, Attapadi, Palakkad district, on May 30, 31 as part of its Arokya Poshanam Programme for the Adivasis in the village.
Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese inaugurated the medical camp as the Camp Director. St Thomas Ashram comes under the Society of the Missionaries of St Thomas, MOSC. Fr M D Yuhanon Ramban welcomed and delivered the presidential address as the Ashram Director.
Felicitations were also presented to Dr Eapen Cherian, Co-ordinator, Dr Anand S R, Reader, Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences, Dr M Raja Mani, Bishop Walsh Memorial Hospital, Thadagam, Dr Aravind A, Shri Kutty Annan and Smt Rani Manikandan, Gram Panchayat Member. A vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Siby Tharakan, Director-Mission Project.
On the concluding day, Dr Mar Yulios supplied educational kits to 550 students of the Ashram by inaugurating the educational kit distribution programme. The kit contained bag, umbrella, books, water bottle, pen, pencils and erasers.
A brief meeting was also held to commend the 16 doctors at the camp for their valuable service and contribution rendered to the Arokya Poshanam Programme. Eight specialist doctors and staff from two medical institutions namely the Virajpet based Coorge College of Dental Sciences helped organise the camp.
The Metropolitan also led the Holy Eucharist and remembered the memory of His Holiness Didymus I, the founder of St Thomas Ashram. The camp began with celebration of the Feast of Ascension of our Lord.
