KOTTAYAM: Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan reinstated Fr. Dr. Poothiyottil C. Cherian into the priestly ministry of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church vide Bull MOSC/CMM/51/2013. The order dated March 13 was in accordance with decisions of the Holy Episcopal Synod.
Fr. Dr. P.C. Cherian had been General Secretary of MGOCSM from 1971 – 1981. Fr. Cherian’s visionary leadership and commitment during those ten years paved way to the administrative and organizational structure that MGOCSM owns at present. He had been instrumental in inspiring and influencing many youngsters towards the ministry of the Holy Church. He also had been the closest ally of L.L. Dr. Philipose Mar Theophilos, while he was with MGOCSM.
Per traditions and canons of the Church Fr. Cherian restrained himself from active ministry of the Church for the last 25 years, for he got married after priestly ordination. His family consists of wife Carrie Puthiyottil and daughters Shaba Puthiyottil and Saja Puthiyottil.
Fr. Cherian had been serving as Director of Agora Ministries, a mission initiative of the Lutheran Church in the United States. He is settled at Minnesota (Phone 651 – 450 – 1900).

I admire His Holiness The Catholicos for bringing back Fr. P.C. Cherian in to Malankara Sabha. I was fortunate to work close to Achen as Joint Secretary of MGOCSM of India while Achen was the General Secretary in 1979. He was one of the greatest force among the young genration at that time. He inspired, motivated and ushured a great number of youth to the leadership of various branches of our great church. Welcome bach Achen..we indeed missed many years with out you.
