
BENGALURU: Under the young leadership of Bengaluru Diocese Metropolitan, Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim, Dn Timothy (Tenny) Thomas from North East American Diocese, will be the main speaker at the Lenten Retreat on March 23, Saturday.
Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church, Kempapura in Hebbal will be the venue for the Retreat from 9 am.
The retreat theme is based on: Restore me to the paradise from which I was lost (from the Hhymns of Saturday morning prayer).
It is being organised by the newly-formed Prayer Ministry of MGOCSM & OCYM, Bengaluru Diocese. Several activities have taken place under the Ministry like visiting the sick, charitable organisations, Lent prayer over tele-conference call. The activities are presently being led by Fr Bijoy Zakariah and Roni David.
Tenny Thomas was ordained to the rank of Mshamshono, with the name Timothy on August 11, 2012 , by Zachariah Mar Nicholovos Metropolitan, North East American Diocese. Dn Timothy is a Master of Theology graduate student of St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Yonkers, New York and is completing his PhD at Union Theological Seminary/Columbia University. The newly ordained Deacon has also completed graduate level courses at Cambridge, Oxford and Union Theological Seminary. The Deacon will hold three sessions for the members during the course of the retreat.
Dr Mar Seraphim will deliver the presidential address at the retreat. Fr Dr Mathews M Daniel will welcome the gathering . Roni will give an introduction on Prayer Ministry while Fr Bijoy will deliver Jesus Prayer Meditation.
