Pilgrimage to Al Ain Parish by OCYM UAE Zonal units

AL AIN: The Zonal committee of OCYM UAE had coordinated a pilgrimage from all the seven OCYM units to St. Dionysius Orthodox church to commemorate the 79th memorial feast of Saint Vattasseril Thirumeni, the first church in the UAE established in his name.

The pilgrims were received by Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios, Metropolitan of UK, Europe and Africa Diocese at St. Dionysius church at 3:30 p.m.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Mar Thimothios said that Vattasseril Thirumeni was a luminary as well a social activist of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian church who firmly steered the church through the most turbulent years of its history, anchoring to triumph and freed the Holy Church from foreign invasions.

It is important to keep in mind that our activities with human values can bring major social changes as Vattasseril Thirumeni did in his time, Dr. Mar Thimothios added.

The vicar of the Al Ain parish, Fr. Saji Abraham presided over the function. Zonal president, Fr. T.J. Johnson, secretary Manoj Thomas, vicar of the Sharjah parish Fr. Abraham John, vicar of the Ras Al Khaimah parish Fr. Manoj.N. Rajan, assistant vicar of the Abu Dhabi parish Fr. Cherian K Jacob and Al Ain unit secretary Shiju Thomas spoke on the occasion.
