OCYM hosts elocution contest on Jan 24 in Muscat

MUSCAT: ‘Prophet of Love’ Late Lamented Geevarghese Mar Osthathios (1918-2012) had placed Indian Orthodox community on the global stage due to his simple life and missionary zeal.

To commemorate his memory and vision, Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) is hosting the first-ever inter-church rolling trophy elocution competition on January 24, 2013 at the Maha Edavaka.

The topic of the elocution competition will be on ‘Religious Harmony’ and ‘My Grace is Enough for You (2 Corinthians 12:9)’

The first winner will take home cash prize of RO 50, a rolling trophy and a certificate and the runner up will receive a trophy, cash prize and RO 25, and a certificate. All participants will also receive certificates.

The medium of communication will be Malayalam and the age criteria for entering the contest will be between 18-45 years. Those interested should obtain letters of consent from the vicar of respective parishes and register their names before January 18.
