Church To Observe the 30th day of demise of Mar Barnabas in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA: The Northeast American Diocese will observe the 30th day of demise of its former Metropolitan LL Mar Barnabas on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, Philadelphia.

The observance will begin with Morning prayer at 9:00 a.m, followed by Holy Eucharist, a public meeting and lunch.

Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Arminian Orthodox Church in New York, Thomas Mar Eusebius, Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate in the United States, and Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Bishop of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma Church will be the chief guests on the occasion.

The proposed project for a Counseling Center in memory of Mar Barnabas will be be announced by the Diocesan Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos at the public meeting.

The St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church is located at 1009 Unruh Avenue, PA 19111

” Elaborate arrangements are made to accommodate more than 1000 faithful at the function. Enough Parking will be available in the neighborhood with shuttle services from and to the front door of the church building. More than 100 volunteers will also be available to help all different areas of activity. ” said Fr. M.K. Kuriakose, the Diocesan Secretary.
