OCYM 2013 calendar highlights icons from Moronoya feasts

MUSCAT: Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka OCYM has released the 2013 calender with icons or themes featuring the Moronoya perunnals or feasts for every two months.

The calendar was released by Dr Mathews Mar Thimothios, Metropolitan of UK-Europe and Africa Diocese, during Parish Day, on November 2.

Moronoya means related to our Master or the Lord. The feasts are celebrated in commemoration of events and people related to the Lord Jesus Christ and the church. Hence they are celebrated compulsorily by the church.

Months of January, February displays icons on Theophany and Mayaltho. March and April shows Annunciation and All Sundays, May and June on Ascension of our Lord and Feast of St Peter and St Paul, July and August has icons on Transfiguration of Lord Jesus and Assumption of St Mary, September and October jointly has the Elevation of the Cross (Sleeba Perunal), and lastly November and December the icon of Christmas or Yeldo, Nativity of the Lord.

Mammen George (Mamachan) presented the first copy to Dr Mathews Mar Thimothios. OCYM Vice President Biju George, Joji John, Secretary and other office bearers were also present.
