DELHI: There is an urgent need to understand that our children are more important than our careers and salary packages said Metropolitan Mar Seraphim
Dr. Abraham Mar Seraphim, Metropolitan of Bangalore Diocese of the Orthodox Church was speaking this while addressing the seminar of the Diaspora movement in Delhi last week.
Parents must go back to the very basics of family prayer and spend more time with children, the Metropolitan added.
Mar Seraphim was the main speaker for parenting session organized on December 16, 2012 at St James Orthodox Church Mayur Vihar Phase 3 under the aegis of the Delhi Diocese. Delhi Diocesan Metropolitan Dr. Youhanon Mar Demetrios and Diocesan Secretary Fr. Skariah Ramban were also present on the occasion.
Issues like online abuses of children and kids having a disturbed life due to struggle between parents has become common among families in cities like Delhi and the Church wish lay leaders and clergy to be sensitive to such issues to deal with it, said Delhi Metropolitan Mar Demetrios.
Diaspora vice president Dr Shabu Varghese introduced the topic. He presented different tools available to track children who have severe online addiction. The seminar was part of the 25 day advent fasting period observed by Orthodox churches across the world.
This year Malankara Orthodox Church is focusing on family and respect for elders as a topic of discussion.
