HH The Catholicos of the East was received by the Indian Ambassador in Cairo

CAIRO: The Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan was received by His Excellency, the Indian Ambassador, Shri Navdeep Suri at his official residence in Cairo on November 18, 2012.

The Catholicos, on an visit to attend the enthronement of the new Coptic Pope, Amba Tawadros II, was accompanied by Dr. Gabriel Mar Gregorios, Fr. Dr. K.M. George, Fr. Abraham Thomas, Deacon Jiss Johnson, and Mr. Jacob Matthew.

The Catholicos discussed the long historical linkages that existed between the Indian and Coptic Orthodox Churches, and the commonality in traditions between the two communities.

The Ambassador expressed happiness that the Catholicos had invited the new Pope to visit India, and said that the presence of the Catholicos in Cairo was evidence of their historical relationship.”
