COCHIN: Metropolitan Mar Pachomios was born on January 26, 1946 as son of KK John, Kolathukalathil, Kurichy, Kottayam and was member of St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s Orthodox Church. Being a great academician he had earned degrees of BSc and MA from Kerala University and BD from the Senate of Serampore. He was very much influenced by Abo Yuhanon of Bethany Ashram, Perinaadu, Ranny (Later Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Athanasius of Kottayam) and that influence attracted him as well to the Bethany community. Fr. Paulose was ordained on January 8, 1974 as a monk priest and he grew in stature as one of the most influential and leading Orthodox spiritual gurus of his time. He also had been the Superior of Bethany Ashram during his tenure as priest. During his studies in England, he also had served the Indian Orthodox Christian Community there as their spiritual shepherd.
Malankara Syrian Christian Association met on September 10, 1992 at Parumala Seminay elected Fr. Paulose OIC to the bishopricate and he was professed Remban on December 19, 1992. Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II consecrated Remban Fr. Paulose OIC as Episcopos on August 16, 2003 and was endowed with the name Metropolitan Paulose Mar Pachomios.
Mar Pachomios served the Church on various capacities as Metropolitan. He had been Assistant Metropolitan at Idukki and Angamali Dioceses. He had also served as President of Balika Samajam as well as St. Mary’s Women’s League and his services as the Corporate Manager of Catholicate and MD Schools was well applauded. He was serving as President of Malankara Prayer Meetings, Vice President of MGOCSM, and Member of the Governing Board of Orthodox Theological Seminary.
