Fr Joji George Appointed Vicar of Muscat Mar Gregorios Maha Edavaka

MUSCAT: Rev Fr Joji George, aged 41, will be the new 16th Vicar of Muscat Mar Gregorios Maha Edavaka.

Achen takes formal charge with effect from April 1, 2012.

Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios has in a Kalpana No: 03/2012 appointed Fr Joji George as the new Vicar and relieved Rev Fr James Geevarghese from the Vicarship with effect from March 31, 2012.

On March 30, Friday, Dr Mar Yulios will preside over a function at the St Thomas Church, Ruwi, for a reception to incoming Vicar Rev Fr Joji George and farewell of outgoing Vicar Rev Fr James Geevarghese.

The former Ahmedabad Diocesan Secretary, Fr Joji, has earlier served in various parishes at Vapi, Valsad, Aurangabad, Nerul and Airoli. Before the Muscat posting, Fr Joji was serving as the Vicar of St Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral, Ahmedabad.

Fr Joji has a Degree in Science (B.Sc), with a B.Ed and a Bachelor of Divinity (B.D) and completed his seminary studies from St Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary (STOTS), Nagpur.

Achen is a resident of ‘Koickalethu House’, Vakayar PO, Konni in Pathanamthitha District. Thumpamon Diocese is his home diocese.

Fr Joji completes 12 years after ordination as a priest on March 19, 2012.
