MGOC Muscat launches 40th year anniversary celebrations

PARUMALA : The Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka is hosting a family get-together for all its former vicars and church members. The day-long event is being called the ‘Muscat MGOC Sangamam’ and will be held on March 4, 2012, Sunday.
The church established in 1972 is also launching its 40th year anniversary celebrations from Parumala. Earlier under the Calcutta Diocese, the over 1,500-odd members come under the new Ahmedabad Diocese since 2009.
The event will begin at 7.30 am with Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios leading the Holy Eucharist at Parumala Church.
This will be followed by inauguration of family get-together at the Parumala Seminary auditorium which will be attended by former vicars and members of MGOC Muscat. The programme will have a brief interaction, study class, group discussion among others.
After breaking for lunch, the ‘Sangamam’ will climax with a public meeting at the Parumala Auditorium.
HH Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, will address the public meeting at 2.30 pm.
The two-hour programme will also have dignitaries like Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Ahmedabad Diocesan Metropolitan, Thomas Mar Athanasius, Metropolitan, Chengannur Diocese and Dr Yuhanon Mar Chrisostomos, Metropolitan, Niranam Diocese.
A number of priests and deacons from MOSC are expected to participate. A large contingent of members from Muscat Maha Edavaka will also attend. A host of eminent personalities, central and state ministers, MLAs, MPs, cultural and political celebrities are also expected to participate.
The public function will witness fund distribution of the highly successful Thanal ‘Save A Life’ Cardiac Project for 2011-2012’ during the valedictory.
Other highlights include inauguration of the 40th year celebrations of MGOC, Muscat; handing over the funds for St Gregorios International Cancer Centre, Parumala and MGOC, Muscat Charity Fund Distribution among others. One of the OP ward in the ground floor of the Cancer Centre is being entirely sponsored by MGOC Church.
Welcome arches will be installed at all vantage points and on roads leading to the venue.
Maha Edavaka Vicar and President Rev Fr James Geevarghese, members of the managing committee have requested the family members of MGOC presently in Kerala and others to participate in large numbers to make it a success.
