Kusruthikkottam 2011 concluded successfully in Fujairah

FUJAIRAH: Kusruthikkottam 2011 – a day long program planned for the children in UAE was hosted by St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, Fujairah on Friday 21st October 2011.

The program with grand success, Kusruthikkottam 2011, was conducted under the auspices of Orthodox Christian Youth Movement UAE Zonal Committee

the kids themselves enacting the legendary king Mahabali being escorted to the stage with the traditional Thalapoli and Chendamelam, inaugurated the program by the lighting of the lamp. A Naadan paatu was also presented by the host unit children.

OCYM Activists from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah led the Malayoram, Idanaadu and Theeranadu corner classes that explained the landscape, culture and traditions of God’s Own Country. They were well supported by Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah units.

The program with the theme Yente KeralamYente Naadu was directed by Unit President Fr. Jacob Thomas, Program Convener and Sunday School Secretary Binu Koshy and Coordinator Wilson Philip.

Folk songs, classes, games, slide show highlighting the poetry and traditional dances of Kerala – for kids; documentary and health related classes for parents were some of the attraction of the program.

Apart from the Orthodox community in UAE, children from Immanuel Marthoma Church, Fujairah also attended the program.

Leaders of all the spiritual organizations of Fujairah St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church and other well wishers joined hands with the OCYM Activists from UAE to conduct the program successfully.

Fr Manoj N Rajan, Unit President, St. Mary’s Orthodox Church Ras Al Khaimah was also present. Fr. Jacob Thomas of Fujairah Unit presented mementoes to the units.

Unit Secretary Joju Mathew Philip welcomed the gathering. OCYM UAE Zonal Secretary Thomas T Mathew proposed vote of thanks.
