Baroda zonal meet of Marth Mariam Samajam deliberates on ‘An ideal Indian women’
Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios leads the one-day conference at Nadiad parish
NADIAD : The Baroda Zonal Conference of Marth Mariam Vanitha Samajam was held on October 2, 2011, Gandhi Jayanthi Day.
The conference was hosted by St Peter’s & St Paul’s Orthodox Church, Mission Road, Nadiad, Gujarat.
Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan of Ahmedabad Diocese, lead the conference and spoke on the theme ‘An Ideal Indian Women.’
The conference deliberated exhaustively on who can be termed as ‘an ideal Indian women’? The answer for this could be many, but a blend of Bible and Indian culture would be rare.
Dr Mar Yulios, Metropolitan, inaugurated the conference after the Holy Eucharist, by lighting the traditional lamp.
The Metropolitan blessed the gathering by his speech on the topic.
About 150 members from all the parishes of the Baroda zone from Anand, Baroda, Bharuch and Nadiad gathered and presented their views points. The gathering witnessed respective participation due to the presence of the Metropolitan and the priests.
A skit competition on the topic was also presented by the parish members.
Jaya Koshy, Diocesan Coordinator, Baroda Parish took home the first prize for the skit competition and second prize went to Mrs Sosamma Chacko, Diocesan Treasurer, from Nadiad parish.
Fr P O Mathai welcomed the gathering. Beena Kuriakose, Zonal Coordinator, Baroda proposed vote of thanks.
