MUSCAT: It was an occasion to bid adieu and say thanks for all the help rendered to the Malankara Orthodox community in Muscat.
Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Muscat rightly acknowledged the role played by the Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman HE Anil Wadhwa for the church during his eventful tenure from August 2007.
On October 3, Monday, office bearers of the Maha Edavaka paid a courtesy visit to the Indian Embassy in Al Khuwair and thanked the Ambassador for the services rendered towards the community.
The delegation included Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka Vicar Fr James Geevarghese, Abraham Mathew, Trustee, Cherian P Thomas, Co-Trustee, Biju Parumala, Secretary and Jacobs Kuriakose, Malankara Sabha Managing Committee Member.
As a token of gratitude, a memento was presented to Anil Wadhwa by Fr James in his chamber.
The church office bearers recalled the visits of Anil Wadhwa to St Thomas Church in Ruwi on several occasions. Mention must be made of the help rendered during the passing away of Late Lamented HG Dr Stephanos Mar Theodosius in Muscat on November 5, 2007. More recently, he presided during the public reception to felicitate the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan HH Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulos II visit to Muscat in March 2011.
On September 20, Anil Wadhwa was conferred Al Numan Order (First Class) by His Majesty in appreciation for his good efforts in serving relations between the Sultanate and their friendly countries.
