BENGALURU – Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim, Metropolitan, Diocese of Bengaluru has called upon the techies towards inculcating a purpose driven fellowship and suggested to include charitable activities like visiting an orphanage, pilgrim centres or similar organisations.

The Metropolitan was addressing the monthly fellowship meeting for the IT employees in Bengaluru region at the St Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral recently.

Dr Mar Seraphim for the first time expressed his concern towards the meager attendance at such fellowship meetings. He urged more publicity to gather more techies, families and directed the coordinators to take appropriate action. His Grace agreed to communicate with the IT folks on a regular basis through email and Facebook.

An overview of the latest Diocesan affairs was presented before the gathering. Dr Yuhanon Mar Demetrius, Asst Metropolitan of Delhi Diocese, also graced the occasion.

The Metropolitan in his speech said God has chosen each one of us for a purpose. He said he was impressed with the thoughts put forward by John, the Bible study speaker, who spoke about the life of Gideon.

Based on a suggestion from Johny Joseph, the meeting decided to visit St Gregorios Dayabhavan at Kunigal on October 16, Sunday, and hold the next IT fellowship meeting there.

The Kunigal meeting will be the first IT meeting to be held outside Bengaluru to which all the members have agreed to be made themselves available.
Earlier, the Bible study was conducted by John Verghese from Hewlett Packard (HP).

John chose to narrate the story of Gideon (Judges chapter 6) who from being an ordinary man became the chosen one to deliver the Israelites from the hands of Midianites.

“The story of Gideon shows how God looks at our potential, not just the person we are. We should thank God for the many victories he provides in our life. Gideon was a person that God chose to lead his people from a period of disobedience and back into fellowship with God.” We should not be afraid of our weaknesses, because God’s strength is with us. (2 Corinthians 12:9,10)

John has also been earmarked to lead the next fellowship Bible study at Kunigal. Earlier, the meeting began with a song by the choir and the meeting ended with a prayer and benediction.
