VAKATHANAM: Late Metropolitan Augen Mar Dionysius, who even made his last trip so a pregnant expression of philanthropy, was a symbol of genuine altruism, said Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala.
The Chief Minister was inaugurating the ‘remembrance meeting’ of late Metropolitan Augen Mar Dionysius and distribution of school supplies at Vallikkattu Dayara on Sunday, June 5, after Holy Qurbana.
Metropolitan Dr. Joshua Mar Nichodemus presided over the meeting. Fr. C.M. Philipose Ramban, Fr. Abraham Vazhakkal, Fr. Abraham P. George Paramphuzha, Lysamma George, President, Vakathanam Grama Panchayath, Jose K. Cherian, President Vazhoor Grama Panchayath, and C.K. Jacob Kocheril spoke on the occasion.
Fr. C.M. Philipose Ramban, Manager, Vallikkattu Dayara, received the faithful, who came from Ranni and Idukki regions.
Catholicos of the East Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II presided over the evening prayers. Metropolitans Mathews Mar Theodosius, Abraham Mar Epiphanios, Mathews Mar Thimothios, and Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros remembered the late Metropolitan Augen Mar Dionysius in their speeches.
Catholicos of the East released a book on the late Metropolitan.
On the main feast day, Sunday, June 5, Catholicos of the East celebrated Holy Qurbana. Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Chrysostomos delivered the remembrance speech. Distribution of awards, remembrance prayer at the tomb of the late Metropolitan, distribution of eulogium, and festive luncheon followed as the day’s events.
Hundreds of faithful participated in the procession in connection with the remembrance festivities.
