Forgive me if I have failed in anything: Mar Barnabas Metropolitan
Metropolitan returns to Kerala for retirement on May 25, 2011

NEW YORK: Mathews Mar Barnabas, Metropolitan has written a farewell letter addressed to the clergy and the laity at both the American Diocese which he had served tirelessly for 18 years.

Mar Barnabas is returning back to home land Kerala on May 25, 2011.

The Bull dated May 3, 2011 notes: “It is with a deep sense of gratitude and satisfaction that I am leaving you. God helped me in discharging my duties. You all cooperated with me whole-heartedly. I am deeply thankful to you for everything. I tried to do my best in everything. Forgive me if I had failed in anything.”

The aging Bishop who build the American Orthodox Ministry work for years begins the letter with blessings to “my beloved Nicholovos Thirumeni, Eusebius Thirumeni, Achens, Chemmachens, brothers, sisters, and children in our Lord.”

Mar Barnabas urges all to cooperate with the diocese metropolitans, Nicholovos Thirumeni and Eusebius Thirumeni and to do your best in everything. “Please remember my exhortations, warning, and suggestions, especially the virtues I have pointed out in the bookmark even after my departure.”

The letter ends with the customary blessings, which can be seen below.

Blessings to my beloved Nicholovos Thirumeni, Eusebius Thirumeni, Achens, Chemmachens, brothers, sisters, and children in our Lord.
Dearly beloved,

As I had served the American Diocese for 18 years, including the Northeast American Diocese and South-West American Diocese, and served the Northeast Diocese for one year, may I bid farewell to both dioceses together.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude and satisfaction that I am leaving you. God helped me in discharging my duties. You all cooperated with me whole-heartedly. I am deeply thankful to you for everything. I tried to do my best in everything. Forgive me if I had failed in anything.

Now that the dioceses are in the hands of Nicholovos Thirumeni and Eusebius Thirumeni, please continue to cooperate with them and do your best in everything. Please remember my exhortations, warnings, and suggestions, especially the virtues I have pointed out in the bookmark even after my departure.

My address in India is:

May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
God be with you.
Yours in our Lord,
Mathews Barnabas Metropolitan
