BARODA : Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan of Ahmedabad, enacted the foot washing or washing of feet at the Mar Gregorios Valiya Pally, Baroda.

Dr Mar Yulios led the solemn celebrations where he cleansed and kissed the foot of the 12 senior vicars and the altar boys coming under the Ahmedabad Diocese.

The ritual washing of feet is now associated with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, which celebrates in a special way the Last Supper of Jesus, before which he washed the feet of his 12 apostles.

Later, Dr Mar Yulios also dined with the priests and the altar boys as an enactment to the Lords Last Supper. The Last Supper, according to Christian belief, is the final meal that Jesus shared with his 12 Apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion.

A large number of faithful and parishioners had gathered at the Valiya Pally to witness the event.
