Feet Washing Ceremony at Mar Gregorios Maha Edavaka, Muscat

MUSCAT : Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim, Metropolitan of Bangalore Diocese enacted the ritual of foot washing or washing of feet at the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Muscat.

Fr James Geevarghese, Vicar of the Maha Edavaka, Fr P K Thomas and Fr Varghese George also joined in the ceremony.

The ritual washing of feet is now associated with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, which celebrates in a special way the Last Supper of Jesus, before which he washed the feet of his twelve apostles

Beginning with a prayer, Dr Mar Seraphim cleansed and washed the foot of the 12 senior Sunday School students individually. He later posed with the students along with the Vicar.

Later, at the parsonage office, the Last Supper was laid along with the Sunday School students and the respective achens.

Also present at the ceremony included Abraham Mathew (Trustee), Cherian P Thomas (Co-Trustee), Biju Parumala (Secretary), Jacobs Kuriakose (Sabha Managing Committee Member), all the area committee members and parishioners.
