Dukhrono of Geevarghese Mar Philexinos observed
MUSCAT : Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim, Metropolitan head of Bangalore Diocese, led the Evening Prayers and the Palm Sunday Service on April 16, Saturday evening at Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Muscat.
Large number of faithful attended the service, the Palm Sunday procession and the Holy Eucharist that followed.Palm Sunday marks the sixth and last sunday of the Christian Holy month of Lent and the beginning of Holy week.
Dr Mar Seraphim based his sermon on the triumphant entry into Jerusalem and Jesus entry into the temple (Mark 11: 1-11). The Metropolitan urged the congregation to invite and receive Lord into their hearts wholeheartedly and to make sacrifices to welcome Him.
“Hosanna” means to ‘please save’ or ‘save now’ and let us dedicate ourselves to the Lord. Like the people who spread their cloak on the road, let us shower our love and warmth to the Lord and be with him, Dr Mar Seraphim said.
Dr Mar Seraphim also led the Dukhrono of HG Geevarghese Mar Philexinos (Puthencavu Kochu Thirumeni) of Basil Dayara. The Metropolitan also recalled his association with the St Basil Dayara Chapel and led the prayers.
An offering was also served in the memory of HG Geevarghese Mar Philexinos.
