BANGALORE : Preparations for the public reception of His Holiness the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II and the Enthronement ceremony are all complete.
March 27, Sunday, will be special day for the newly-created Bangalore Diocese. Its new and youngest bishop, Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim will be enthroned as the head of the diocese through the Sunthronito ceremony by the Catholiocose at 11 am. The Holy Eucharist will be led by the HH Catholicos from 9 am at the St Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral, Hosur Road.
Geevarghese Mar Coorilose (Metropolitan Mumbai Diocese), Dr Yuhanon Mar Theovodorus (Metropolitan Kottarakkara, Punaloor), Dr Zachariah Mar Aprem (Metropolitan Adoor-Kadampanaadu Diocese), will also bless the occasion with their presence.
Dr Mar Seraphim says, “this is an opportunity for us to tell the local leaders who we are and what are we doing here.”
“We have been here (in Bangalore) for the last 67 years and we are not known to many of the local people. So we do our best to publicise the programme in a big way,” points out Dr Mar Seraphim.
As a precursor to the ceremony, a press conference will be addressed by Dr Mar Seraphim on March 24.
The briefing will mainly focus about the Catholicos visit, Sunthronito ceremony, the spread of Bangalore Diocese and its future plans and activities.
March 26, Saturday, will see the maiden visit of the Supreme Head of the Indian Orthodox Church and a public reception for His Holiness at the Campus Crusade for Christ Auditorium.
