MUSCAT: Family atomosphere and family prayers were very important in daily life, said Moran Mar Baselious Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicose and Malankara Metropolitan.
His Holiness was addressing a press conference at the MGOC parsonage soon after his arrival in Muscat.

“Whenever there is a lack of love in a family, problems arise. More emphasis should be on the family set up which is more noble and dignified,” the holy shepherd said and added that ‘ego centric’ issues led to ‘silly’ problems leading to divorce.
When asked about nuclear families, he pointed out the acceleration of divorce rate which was leading to a world crisis.
The Holy Shepherd further added that joint families had its inconveniences, merits and demerits.
He mentioned about the Malankara Orthodox community organising a two-week premarital counselling course for those getting married. This is under the guidance of a priest who does pastoral work despite difficulties, His Holiness added.
