Catholicos of the East to lead ‘Sunthronitho’ of Dr Mar Seraphim on March 27

BANGALORE: The ‘Sunthronitho’ or Enthronement ceremony of Metropolitan Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim of Indian Orthodox Church’s newest Bangalore Diocese is to take place on Sunday, March 27, 2011.

The ceremony will be held at the St Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral, Hosur Road, Bangalore.

The big event will see Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, as the chief celebrant.

The ceremony will also see the enthronement of Malankara Orthodox youngest shepherd Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim at 7 am followed by the Holy Eucharist.

Later, the ceremony will be followed by a public meeting. The Catholiocs will also be the chief guest at the felicitation meeting in which dignitaries and officials are expected to take part.

The Catholicose will be undertaking his maiden visit to Bangalore and arrives on March 26, Saturday, for the Diocese inauguration.

At the recently-concluded Meltho 2011, Dr Mar Seraphim had called upon the Orthodox folk in Bangalore to prepare and participate in the event in a big manner.

Preparations are already on to make the event a grand success.
