
KOTTAYAM: Fr. M.P. George, professor of liturgical music at Orthodox Theological Seminary and Director of Sruthi School of Liturgical Music was conferred with Ph.D. His area of study was Syriac liturgical music.
International Doctoral Committee for Syriac Studies headed by the famous Syriac Scholar and Professor at the Oxford University Prof. Sebastian Brock has recommended that Fr. George’s thesis was of outstanding quality to earn him the coveted honor.
Fr. George has transcribed the Syriac liturgical music into music notations and this was the first endeavor of its kind in India.
