PATHNAMTHITTA: ‘Decline in spirituality is to pave way for disasters’, warned the Supreme Head of the Orthodox Church of the East. ‘Goodness originates out of a spiritual culture alone’, he further exhorted.
Catholiocos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II was inaugurating the Central Travancore Orthodox Convention at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Makkamkunnu, Pathnamthitta on Tuesday, February 15th.
“One needs to give precise heed to the word of God, put one’s trust upon the word of God and grow in faith in Christ. Subsequently all disasters will give way. Prayer needs to climb from the depth of hearts”, carried on the Pontiff. He also said that today’s society was crazily following festivities and that was causing a visible decline in spirituality, which raises concerns in him.
“The Lord is near to the one, who prays in tears for the world”, said Fr. Dr. O. Thomas, who led classes. ‘Tears would shed out of a broken heart. Presence of God was to be seen with tears. Therefore, tears were gift of God’, carried on Fr. Thomas.
Metropolitan of Thumpamon Diocese Kuriakose Mar Clemis presided over the meeting. Metropolitan Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, Chor-Episcopos Joseph Samuel Karukayil and Fr. Saji Amayil spoke during the day’s proceedings.
St. Stephen’s choir led the singing sessions.
