NEW YORK: “God expects us to live with better harmony through ever increasing faith and thus realizing the worth of provided time”, said the Senior Metropolitan of the Diocese of North East America Mathews Mar Barnabas.
The Metropolitan was delivering his address while leading the feast of St. Baselios at the Mar Baselios Orthodox Church, Elmont, New York on Saturday, January 1, 2011.
The Metropolitan also confirmed that he was retiring due to advanced age and his wish was to retreat to Kerala and lead a quiet and serene life there. He also wished everyone a New Year clad with peace and brotherhood.
Chor-Episcopos Dr. P.S. Samuel, Fr. John Thomas, the Diocesan Secretary, and Fr. P.G. Mathew have con-celebrated with the Metropolitan at the Holy Tri-mass.
The faithful and the clergy welcomed the Metropolitan earlier in the morning at 9.00 am with lighted candles and ornamental umbrellas.
The Metropolitan also released the new directory of the parish by handing over a copy to Fr. John Thomas.
Metropolitan Mar Barnabas distributed prizes to the children, who won prizes at the regional Sunday School Competitions.
