Sunday School Talent Show – North East American Diocese

NEW YORK: The Northeast American Diocese Sunday School Talent Show and Competitions were held on November 13th, 2010 at ST. Thomas Orthodox Church ,Unruh ,Philadelphia.

Chor-Episcopos K. Mathai lighted the lamp to declare the competition inaugurated. Sunday School Director Fr. Dr. Raju Varghese presided over the function.

For the Talent competitions St. Mary’s Church, Rockland won the overall ever rolling St. Gregorios Memorial Trophy for highest points (Church Level). Rachel Alexander from St Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, Washington DC won the individual trophy for most points (Mundukuzhy Achen Memorial Trophy) in the competition. Ryan Geevarghese Memorial Trophy and Susan Thampi memorial Trophy were also awarded. All the Sunday school students, who participated in the talent show and competitions, were congratulated.

Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios memorial cash awards were given to the first and second rank holders of the 2010 centralized Examinations. St. Gregorios Church Queens Elmont, St. Stephens Church, Long Island and St Thomas Church, Unruh, Philadelphia sponsored these awards.

Following Sunday School Students received the Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios Memorial cash awards.

5th Grade: 1st Rank – Rhea Mathews, St. Mary’s Rockland and 2nd Rank – Joel Thomas, St. Mary’s Bronx.

8th Grade: 1st Rank – Tiffany George, St. Mary’s Rockland and 2nd Rank – Michele Pothen, St. Mary’s Rockland

10th Grade: 1st Rank – Timothy Mathew, St. Stephen’s Orthodox Church-Bergenfield, 2nd Rank – Kiran Kallarackal, St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Bronx

12th Grade: 1st Rank – Basil Thommen, St. John’s Delaware PA and 2nd Rank – Ken Mathai, St. Stephen’s, Long Island

TTC – Centralized Examination

1st Rank – Molsey Thomas, St. Gregorios PA
2nd Rank – Susan Mathew, St. Thomas PA
2nd Rank – Mathew Samuel, St. Thomas PA

Sunday School Director Fr. Dr. Raju Varghese led the talent competitions and talent show. Thomas Mathai and Mathai Chacko served as coordinators for the program. Many Priests, deacons, Sunday school officials, church officials and more than 750 faithful attended the event. Mathew Samuel (PA&DC Region Coordinator) welcomed the gathering. Benny Varghese, Sunday School Diocesan Secretary, moved the vote of thanks.

Ajin Thomas, Anu Thomas, Dn. Geevarghese John and Jenny varghese served as MCs. Sunday School Children from New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington, Connecticut, Boston and Canada areas exhibited outstanding programs at the Talent Show.
