Mar Coorilos urges Orthodox youth to prioritize Godly ways

BANGALORE:The Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) and Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM) organised a one-day annual conference and seminar for the youth of Bangalore Orthodox Church at the St Baselios Orthodox Church, Anand Nagar, Marathahalli on November 27th.

MGOCSM President and Bombay Diocesan Metropolitan Geevarghese Mar Coorilos in his presidential address urged the youth to give significance to God and to give priority to the Lord in each one’s life.

New Bangalore Diocese Metropolitan Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim who presided over the conference said the Orthodox youth must present itself to the present day needs of the church.

Mar Coorilos and Dr Mar Seraphim led the sessions along with Jacob Mathew from Malaysia.

Fr Abraham Thomas from the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam who delivered the key note address stressed on the importance of correlating spiritual life with each individual’s daily life. Fr Saji Daniel, Vice President, Youth Movement, welcomed the gathering.

The Bangalore Youth Choir led the choir session while St George Orthodox Youth, Indiranagar emerged winners in the Annual Quiz Competition.

The Youth Executive Committee took charge with the formal induction of the five Joint Secretaries. Youth Movement General Secretary Ajith Mathew George proposed the vote of thanks.

Youth delegates from Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Secunderabad, Mysore, Tumkur and Bangalore participated in the conference.

Vicars from all the parish churches in Bangalore who took part include Fr T K Thomas Corepiscopa (Diocesan Secretary),Fr John Thomas Corepiscopa, Fr Skariah Mathew, Fr K M Jacob, Fr Saji Daniel and Fr Varghese P Idichandy.

Earlier, on November 26, the Bangalore Orthodox Convention, Meltho 2011, was held at the St Baselios Orthodox Church in the presence of Dr Mar Seraphim.
