MUSCAT : Metropolitan Dr Pulikkottil Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan of Ahmedabad Diocese, was addressing the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church Youth Movement (MGOCYM) members during his recent visit to Muscat.
Mar Yulios took the third letter of John written by Gaius, ‘the Elder’ to a church leader as the theme talk and spoke about the youth movement in relation to Puritanism urging them to stay away from such practices. The Puritans were a group of people who grew discontent in the Church of England and worked towards religious, moral and societal reforms and were a significant grouping of English Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Metropolitan called upon more youngsters to take youth movement activity more vigorously and spend time constructively for the Lord. He further envisaged a greater role for MGOC youth members towards shaping up the new Ahmedabad diocese in the days ahead. Mar Yulios interacted with the young members and gave an outlook of the future programmes and promised to network with the MGOC members on all future events.
Dr Mar Yulios is presently in Oman on his first-ever visit since churches in the Sultanate come under the newly-formed Ahmedabad Diocese.
Fr James Geevarghese, Vicar, MGOC Muscat also spoke.
Biju Parumala, Vice President, gave a briefing about the activities of the youth movement and presented a book containing a compilation of songs from MGOCYM. Pradeep Varghese, General Secretary read out the report of the various youth programmes held so far.
