MUSCAT: Dr Pulikkottil Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan of Ahmedabad Diocese, travels to Salalah on a three-day visit from November 17, on his last leg of visit to the Sultanate.
The Metropolitan will depart from Muscat International Airport on Wednesday afternoon and will be received by Fr Saju Palachira, Vicar, St Stephens Orthodox Church and the committee members at the Salalah International Airport.
Mar Yulios has so far completed visits in Muscat, Sohar where the metropolitan widely travelled to the interior areas to meet with the Orthodox congregation at Al Buraimi, Al Rustaq and Wilayat of Ibri.
Mar Yulios is presently in Oman on his first-ever visit since churches in the Sultanate come under the newly-formed Ahmedabad Diocese. The visit is basically to meet the Malankara Orthodox folk and to enlighten them about the newly-formed Ahmedabad diocese, its programmes and vision.
The coastal city of Salalah in the southern province of Dhofar is the second largest in the Sultanate and situated over 1,200 kms from Muscat, the capital.
Dr Mar Yulios with celebrate the Holy Qurbana at the Salalah church on November 18th evening. His Grace will also take time off to indulge in site seeing at Salalah’s many tourist spots on the morning of November 18, Oman’s National Day.
Scheduled places of visit are Prophet Job (Nabi Ayoub’s Tomb in Arabic), anti-gravity road or Magnetic Road, Taqa Castle, remains of Queen Sheba’s Palace among others.

Nov 18: (Morning) Site seeing trip in Salalah 7 pm: Evening prayers followed by Holy Qurbana and reception
