MUSCAT: The Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church Muscat, well-known for its humanitarian and charity projects has invited applications for its popular ‘Thanal’ or Home Aid Project for 2010-2011.
Applications have already started pouring in from many of the economically weaker diocese in India. The Muscat church has targeted to build seven houses initially and will bear 75 per cent of the total cost. The remaining will be taken care by the respective dioceses.
The diocese metropolitans will recommend genuine cases which will be scrutinised by the managing committee before giving its final approval. The first installment of the amount will be distributed by September well in time for the foundation-laying ceremony. The remaining amount will be delivered at various stages of the construction of the home.
The proposed project plan for each house will comprise of a sitting room, a veranda, a bed room, a kitchen and a bath.
Individuals can also sponsor building materials for the house like doors and windows (Riyal Omani RO 300), solid blocks (RO 250), cement (RO 150), rubble (RO 300), sand (RO 250), steel (150), electrical fittings (RO 100).
Others can participate by sponsoring or by way of donating RO 1,500. Sponorship is by way of a part of sitting room and veranda for RO 650, bed room for RO 400, kitchen and a bathroom for RO 450. One can also uphold the Thanal project in your daily prayers. The church members have also begun to donate individual amount towards the project.
The last date for filled in applications to reach the church office has been extended to August 31.
