Mar Philoxenos: In The Fullness of Three Score and Ten

DELHI: Diocese of Delhi celebrated the 71st birthday of her shepherd Metropolitan Prof. Job Mar Philoxenos.

Celebrations began with the Holy Qurbana in the evening of May 7th, 2010 at the Delhi Diocesan Center, Tuglaquabad, New Delhi. The Metropolitan himself was the chief celebrant. It was also an occasion of great joy and gratefulness to almighty God for the Metropolitan as well as for the diocese, considering the ill health and physical quandary that the Metropolitan went through during the past several of months.

Delhi diocesan secretary Fr. M.S. Skaria Ramban, Fr. Johnson Ipe and Fr. Bineesh Babu have assisted Mar Philoxenos during the Holy Eucharist. After the Holy Qurbana there was an agape feast and special programs under the auspices of Dubai Cathedral.

On May 8th, there was a public meeting organized under the leadership of Haus Khaz Cathedral at the St. Paul’s School, Haus Khaz, New Delhi. Principal of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and former Member of National Minorities Commission Rev. Dr. Valsan Thampu, Sabha Trustee M.G. George Muthoot, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Agriculture Jiji Thomson, Secretary of Clergy Guild, Diocese of Delhi Fr. Philip M. Samuel, Vicar of Haus Khaz Cathedral Fr. M.C. Paulose and Thomas Mathew have felicitated the Metropolitan on his reaching the 71st birthday.

Spiritual Organizations presented their shepherd with special floral ovations. Jeebo Kulathinkal coined a poem of felicitation on the 71st birthday of Mar Philoxenos and the Cathedral choir sung it beautifully, which touched the heart of every one attended.

All parishes in the diocese celebrated the birthday of their Metropolitan on May 9th, Sunday. On May 11th, the Metropolitan spent time with the children of Balagram at Shantigram to mark his special love for children as a note of his birthday.
