Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church elects committee members

MUSCAT: The Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Church has elected new members of the Managing Committee for the fiscal 2010-2011. This was decided upon at a meeting of the Annual General Body held in March. The members will have their tenure for a year till the end of the Great Lent (Good Friday) in 2011.

Fr James Geevarghese is the vicar and President of the church.

The other members are: P C Cherian (Trustee) , Oonnoonni Thomas (Co-Trustee) and John Thomas (Santhosh) Secretary

The Muscat Governorate under Muscat, the capital, where a majority of the members reside has been divided into 16 areas.
The committee members elected for each of these areas are as follows:
Darsait: Mammen Varghese, Muttrah/Greather Muttrah: Mammen George, Ruwi: Boban Mathew Thomas, Wadi Kabir East: Mathew P Thomas, Wadi Kabir West: Biju M Samuel, Walja: Joy Varghese, Hamariya East: Johnson Skaria, Hamariya West: K M Baby Kutty, Wattayah/Qurum: E I Rajan, Al Khuwair East: Mathew Varghese, Al Khuwair West: John Thomas Vadakkedom, Al Ghubrah: Babu Varghese, Ghala/Royal Hospital: Joseph Mathew K, Seeb/Al Hail: Biju George, Ministry of Defence (MoD)/Al Rusayl: Babu Varghese and Interior areas of Oman: AchenKunju John.

T J Joseph will be the Ex-Officio while A K John takes charge as Auditor.

Mar Gregorios Orthodox Chrisitian Youth Movement (MGOCYM): The office bearers of Youth Movement elected for 20101-2011 are as follows: Vice President: Joseph Varghese, Secretary: Mathew P Thomas, Joint Secretary: Pradeep Varghese and Treasurer: Mathew John.

The Committee Members are: Biju John, Abhilash Tharakan, Joji Samuel, Tiju Thankachen and Shiju K Philip. George Abraham will be the Ex-Officio while Jabson Varghese will look after as Auditor.
