KOTTAYAM: The Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Didymus I bestowed upon the Metropolitan Elects all the sacred books that are of special use to a Metropolitan at the Catholicate Palace on Thursday, May 6th, 2010. They include books for solemn services like Church Consecration and Ordination. The handing over of these books was after a small exhortation on the importance of these books as well as on the sanctity of their usage.
The Catholicos has also presented them with a new book that was published on things that need to be observed by the Orthodox clergy at special situations. These situations include inter denominational marriages and baptisms. This new book is thought as a guideline to the clergy and will be circulated soon among the clergy.
The Catholicos Elect Paulose Mar Milithios imparted the Metropolitan Elects with practical lessons on diocesan administration. “A metropolitan shall only take decisions that are divinely inspired, complying to the Constitution of the Church as well as totally democratic”, the Successor Elect to the present Catholicos exhorted.
IOH has learned that the Catholicos is consulting with senior members of the Holy Episcopal Synod to finalize upon names for the new Metropolitans. IOH has also learned that this time there is a chance of calling episcopal names to the new Metropolitans that have never been used at Malankara.
