KUWAIT: “Philanthropic acts enlighten the Church as a whole and parishes have to wake up to move ahead with altruistic activities”, exhorted Metropolitan of UK, Europe and Africa Dr. Mathews Mar Thimotheos. He was speaking after inaugurating the valedictory meeting of the year long silver jubilee celebrations of Mar Gregorios Movement, Kuwait.
“We need to mould a generation that is committed to wipe off the tears of the society. Parents have to equip the kids from their early childhood with willingness for social service and open ways to take part in charitable activities,” carried on the Metropolitan.
Fr. Jose Mathew, Vicar, St. Gregorios Maha Idavaka, Kuwait presided over the meeting convened at the American International School auditorium, Maidan Haveli, Kuwait.
Assistant Manager, Karmel Dayara Fr. P. M. John, E.P. Varghese, Philips John, Thomas Varghese Charuvil, Oommen V. Kurien, and John P. Joseph spoke on the occasion.
The Metropolitan received the Silver Jubilee Souvenir from V.C. Varghese and the M.G. M. Directory, which was revised by Varkey Moncy Kuruvilla, from Biji Paul to declare them open.
As part of the meeting the ballet ‘Throne of the Just (Neethimante Simhaasanam)’ was presented. The writer and director of the ballet, who is also a member of the Movement, Babychen, was garlanded by the Assistant Vicar Fr. George C. Varghese. The Metropolitan gave presents to Babychen and Babu Varghese.
Famous drama artists from Kerala, Artist Sujathan and Mohan Aluva, Babuji Batheri, and Johny Kunnil have prepared wonderful stage settings and excellent technical perfection for the ballet. Fr. Abraham P. George, Vicar of Ahamadi Church, Babu Varghese and Mathew K. Koshy presented gifts of recognition to these artists.
