Faith and Traditions Get Alienated, Mar Ivanios

ABU DHABI: “At the severe flow of time Christian faith and traditions get alienated and the Sunday School teachers shall fetch them back to the new generation”, said Geevarghese Mar Ivanios, Metropolitan of Kottayam. He was inaugurating the 26th Annual Meeting of Sunday School Teachers of UAE Zone at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Abu Dhabi.

Vicar, St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Fr. Johnson Daniel presided over the meeting. Fr. A. J. Abraham, and A.J. Joykutty spoke on the occasion.

Fr. George Abraham, Vicar of Sharjah Parish and District Prsident of UAE Sunday Schools, lead a class basing on the Holy Bible. Fr. Biju P. Thomas, Vicar of Dubai Parish, chaired a discussion on the topic “Is Our Sunday School a Success” and it opened ways to serious retrospection.

Teachers of Fujairah and Abu Dhabi Sunday Schools presented songs. Fr. George Abraham presided over the Annual Meeting. Sam Thomas presented the Annual Report and Thomas Paul presented the OVBS report. Meeting elected Eldho Joseph, St. Dionysius Orthodox Church, Al Ayin, as UAE Zonal Secretary for the year 2010-2011.

Abouth 3000 students from seven parishes study in the UAE Sunday School Zone. More than 250 teachers are also serving.

Saji Oommen welcomed the gathering and UAE Zonal Secretary, Sam Thomas, expressed the Vote of Thanks.
