First Marthoma VI Award Presented to Mar Osthathios

CHENGANNUR: The first ‘Marthoma VI award was presented to the senior most metropolitan of Malankara Church, Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios. This award is instituted in memory of Marthoma VI who is otherwise famed as Dionysius the Great.

Catholicose Elect Paulose Mar Milithios handed over the award money. “Marthoma VI was one of the greatest personalities from the pages of History of the Malankara Church. He did not succumb to the crisis of times and the visionary in him safeguarded the faith of the Church”, acclaimed the Catholicos Elect.

Minister of Kerala Cabinet Kadannappalli Ramachandran handed over the document of felicitation. ‘The society expects churches to become symbols of love and peace’, said the Minister.

An Art Gallery was inaugurated in the meeting. Keys of a new house named ‘Marthoman Home’ were also handed over.

Chor Episcops C.M. Philipos chaired the meeting. MLA P.C. Vishnunaath, Chairman of Chengannoor Municipality Mr. Rajan Kannattu, Vicar of the parish Fr. Jose Thomas, Prof. A.P. George, Valsamma Abraham, Jose K. George, Georgy Thomas, Stephen Ipe, and Dr. Jiby George etc. spoke on the occasion.

Metropolitan- elect Fr. Dr. George Pulikkottil Ramban distributed trophies to the winners of All Malankara Quiz Competition, which was organized by St. Thomas Youth League.
