Altar Assistants of Malankara Decide to Make Parishes Greener

PARUMALA: The annual training camp of Altar Assistants under the auspices of AMOSS (Akhila Malankara Shushrooshaka Sanghom- All Malankara Altar Assistants’ Guild) began at Parumala Seminary on Monday at 5 PM, 19th April 2010.

The meeting will continue until Wednesday 11 AM on 21st April. AMOSS has decided to undertake the responsibility of protecting and caring the Environment in the parishes across Kerala according to the order of the Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Didymos I to make all parishes green and greener by 2012.

The Catholicos has formally inaugurated the project during the inaugural session of the Camp. Metropolitan of the Diocese of Trivandrum, Dr. Gabriel Mar Gregorios presided over the meeting where Paulos Mar Militios, the Cathoicose Elect delivered the sermon of blessings. Metropolitan of Thumpamon, Kuriakose Mar Clemis, Fr. Dr. Johns Konattu, Priest Trustee, Fr. Yuhanon Ramban, Manager, Parumala Seminary, M.G. George Muthoott, Lay Trustee, and Dr. George Joseph, Sabha Secretary delivered felicitations.

Training on Church history, Faith, Worship, and Sacraments etc will be handled by able speakers, namely, Fr. John Thomas Karingattil, Fr. Joji K. Joy, Fr. P.J. Joseph, Mr. P. Thomas, Piravom and Jose Kurian Puliyeril. during the camp.

Fr. Binoy John (Kandanad) will lead the bible clas and Fr. Zechariah Ninan, Mar Baselios Dayara, Njaliyakuzhi will lead the retreat.

Topic for group discussion will be ‘the mission of the Altar Assistants, new challenges and new tendencies’, which will be moved by Fr. Shibu Kurian (Co-Coordinator) and moderated by Fr. Thomas Andrews (Vice President).

Dr. Gabriel Mar Gregorios Metropolitan is to lead the class “God Calls”.

A Merit Certificate will be awarded to everyone, who is participating the camp with excellent performance. The camp will come to an end after Holy Eucharist followed by breakfast on 21st April.
