NAGPUR: Metropolitan of Mumbai Diocese and President, Governing Board to the St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Nagpur laid foundation stone for the new ‘Teacher’s Quarters’ on March 10th, 2010 at STOTS premises. Metropolitan of Niranam, Dr. Youhanon Mar Chrysostomos was also present on the occasion.

“This is a project worth 50 lacs of Rupees to benefit the teaching body of the St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary, Nagpur. At present the professors, if are with family, have to commute from long distances to reach the seminary. The new facility will reduce the trouble in traveling considerably and will also provide improved spiritual enrichment and concord to the life of faculty and students”, stated Fr. Dr. Shaji P. John, Registrar, Nagpur Seminary and one of the coordinators of the project.

“This is a two storied complex with four apartments. One apartment includes one hall, three bedrooms, kitchen and 3 toilets. We are trying to finish the construction and get the koodasha done by September, 2010”, said Fr. Philipose Venattu, the second coordinator to the ‘Teacher’s Quarters’ project.

Almost two third of the funds have been collected for the project and the construction has reached to the plinth level by the first week of April, 2010.
