Jake Kurian to the Holy Diaconate on April 10, 2010

HOUSTON: Jake Kurian will be ordained to the Holy Order of Deacon (M’shamshono) by Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of the Diocese of South-West America on Saturday, April 10th, 2010.

The ordination will take place at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Stafford, Texas. The service will begin at 7:30AM with morning prayer followed by Holy Qurbana and ordination service.

Jake is currently a final year seminarian at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania and is anticipating graduation in May 2010. Prior to joining seminary, Jake earned his Bachelor’s in Biology and Business Administration from Houston Baptist University in 2003. After his undergraduate degree, he earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy in 2007.

He has served as a leader for St. Thomas Houston parish youth group for the past several years. He has served on OVBS, MGOCSM Retreat, and Family Conference committees.

Jake is the son of Kurian Varkey and Mary (Sunny & Molly) from St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Houston. Jake is married to Shine Kurian, whose home parish is St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Dallas.
