We have 3 dioceses without Bishops and minimum 3 more dioceses are being planned after the Diocese reorganization committee submits its report shortly. We have also a few Bishops who are ailing and are awaiting their successor for retirement. So we need to get seven elected. A request to the association members: Please cast all your seven votes. Please count the number of votes you cast as one extra vote means the ballot paper becomes in valid. During the last election, one elected candidate got 137 single votes, which means 137 people didn’t vote for a second person when they could have gone upto voting for seven candidates. All the candidates are equal in the eyes of the faithful and the Church. So please utilize all your valuable votes. A request to the 10 Candidates: All of you must have conducted Holy Qurbana on Aneeda Sunday. But I don’t know how many of you must have listened to the Old Testament readings. Incidentally, there is a reading which is worth the occasion of your election to episcopate. Please don’t consider this as an advice. Ezekiel Chapter 34. Please do a self analysis. Are you all worth the calling? I am sure many will fall short of the expectations. Please correct in the lines of what the Prophet says irrespective of the fact whether you win or loose the election and put a brave face even if you loose the election. Be aware about the value of your votes. Each vote is valuable as you are the determining factor of the future of The Malankara Orthodox Church. But you must have a vision for what you are going to decide. You should not cast your vote to whom you are not satisfied with qualities. This is not a position to decorate somebody to please. This is the time for you to determine the future of the Indian Orthodox Church, which is the Body of Jesus Christ. You have the responsibility to keep its Holiness. It is the responsibility of all of us to do what all we can to ensure a free and fair election. We must ensure that the most eligible and worthy candidates are selected. We can safely say that if we can do our bit sincerely to ensure a fair and free election there - God's voice will be heard and the outcome would be God's will. A lot of money and efforts being spent by the church in organizing such an event. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to see to it, that the efforts do not go in vain. We call upon every faithful of the Church to remember this topic in your daily prayers and request all Parish representatives to fast and pray before attend and exercise your rights at the Association Meeting.
