Metropolitan Mar Eusebius Responds to the Shocking News of Earthquake in Haiti

HOUSTON, TX : Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of the Diocese of South-West America of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, expressed his deepest sorrow after the massive earthquake that took place in Haiti, where it is feared that more than 100,000 people may have lost their lives and over one-third of the population is in need of emergency aid.

Metropolitan extended his love and prayers for the thousands who have lost their lives and the many who are injured and trapped and still seeking assistance.

The Metropolitan has sent a circular (Kalpana ) to all parishes of the Diocese stating that “The time is now and it cannot be delayed.”

The Metropolitan pledged prayerful and financial support from the Diocese and requested that every parish set apart this Sunday’s offertory and initiate a special collection from every earning member of the parish for the Haiti earthquake relief and restoration process.

Metropolitan Mar Eusebius also exhorted that a special prayer be conducted this Sunday in each parish for the victims of the earthquake
