Dallas St. Mary’s Church: Construction for New Building Launched

DALLAS: The ‘Ground Breaking’ ceremony of the proposed new Church Building and Auditorium of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Dallas, Texas was held on November 01, 2009 at 11.30 am after the Holy Qurbana by the vicar Fr. Thampan Varghese.

“The construction of the new church building is expected to complete in one year. On completion the project will cost about $4million” informed the Vicar Fr. Thampan Varghese.

The new church is designed in the Eastern Orthodox traditional Architecture. The new building will have the facility of a sanctuary for 800 people to worship at a time. Offices like Sunday school, Parish office are also included in the design.

A team Parish Managing Committee and Building committee were working on the project for past few years to launch their dream project.

Barton Drake (VAI Architects), Steve Morehead (C M T, the Contractor), Matt Bennoit (City Asst. Manager) and Rick Chabbot (COVIS the Project Manager) had attended the ground breaking ceremony and congratulated the parishioners.

The Vicar Fr. Thampan Varghese expressed his gratitude towards the whole parish members for their unfailing support, whole hearted contributions and enthusiasm. St. Mary’s Orthodox Church is the first church in Dallas for the Malayalee Christians which was established in 1973
