Parumala News: Tent Pole Installation Ceremony

PARUMALA: Preparations are begun at Parumala to celebrate the 107th Dukrono of Saint Gregorios of Parumala by installing the tent pole (‘panthal kaal nattu karmam’)by the Seminary Manager M. D. Yuhanon Ramban on Sunday October 11, 2009 after service at Parumala Seminary premises.

This festival is celebrated to commemorate the death anniversary of Saint Gregorios of Parumala, the declared saint of the Malankara Orthodox Church of Kerala. During the commemorative feast, special prayers are offered and rituals are performed. The ceremonial procession and Padayathra from various churches inside and outside Kerala are another specialty.

Fr. Simon Skariah, Fr. Yuhanon John the asst. Managers of Parumala Seminary, Jacob Thomas Arikupuram, G. Oommen, Thomas T. Parumala, M. C. George (Seminary Council Members) and Fr. Alexander Abraham attended the ceremony.
