PHILADELPHIA: The Clergy Conference- 2009 of the Northeast American Diocese was held successfully on Friday, October 2 to Saturday, October 3 at St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, Philadelphia (Unruh Avenue).
More than 25 priests with their family and deacons of the diocese gathered together under the spiritual leadership of both the Diocesan Metropolitan Mathews Mar Barnabas and Assistant Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos.
Canonical Prayers otherwise referred to as ‘Shimo Namaskaram’ were said by the clergy gathered. Devotional messages and seminar style classes were the attraction of the conference.
The Clergy Conference suggested to formally constituting the ‘Beskyomo Association’ in the diocese as a part of the Church level ‘Beskyomo Association’
Pertinent issues relating to the spiritual life and growth of the parishes of the Diocese, and the Diocese as a whole were also discussed at the conference..
The Metropolitans extended their gratitude to Chor Episcopos Dr. Yohannan Sankarathil (Vice President-Clergy Association) and Fr. M. K. Kuriakose (Vicar of the host parish) for their hard work rendered to the conference.
The Clergy Association will meet for its annual retreat as usually schedule during the Great Lent (dates will be announced later) and will meet for their Clergy Conference September 30 and October 1, 2010 at the newly built Diocesan Center in Muttontown, New York.
