FLORIDA: MGOCSM of the Southeast Region of Southwest American diocese held its 4th Annual Retreat on September 4 to 6 at Lakewood Retreat Center, Brooksville, Florida.
The theme of the retreat was “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee” 1 Timothy 4:16.
Diju Skariah and Joel Mathew from St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary were the speakers. Fr. Dr. Jacob Mathew moderated the Question and Answer Session. Fr. George Paulose conducted the Preparation address for Confession. Fr. Dr. Joy Pyngolil and Fr. George Daniel delivered devotional addresses.
Holy Qurbana was celebrated on Sunday morning. Regional Vice president Fr. Dr. Mathew Koshy was the chief celebrant.
“The presence of 5 of our Regional priests throughout the retreat was a blessing and encouragement to us” said one of the participants.
During the business meeting Varkey Pyngolil and Reshma Daniel were elected as South East Regional Secretary and Treasurer for the coming year.
The Labor Day Weekend retreat was with over 60 participants from all across Florida and Georgia. Sherine Abraham was Convener of the Youth Retreat this year
MGOCSM of the Southeast Region thanked the outgoing Regional Secretary Suja John and the Treasurer Jabin Jose for their sincere work during the year 2009.
